Amy Lou Adams (Vicenza, 20 August 1974) is an American actress and singer born in Italy.
Biography

Amy was born in Vicenza, Italy, daughter of American parents Kathryn and Richard Adams Hicken, who were in Italy to work. He studied at Douglas County High School and raised in the Mormon religion, although his family has left the church after his parents divorced when she was eleven.

While working in a famous restaurant / theater in Chanhassen, Minnesota, she was discovered by a movie producer. Shortly after, she had her first role in the comedy Drop Dead Gorgeous. Moved to Los Angeles, California, where she appeared in her second film, Cruel Intentions 2 (2000). Then Amy took part in some television series as The Office, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Charmed, The West Wing, Dr. Vegas and Smallville (series), and also had a cameo in the film Psycho Beach Party.

After doing Catch Me If You Can in 2002, Amy received critical acclaim for her role in Junebug (2005). Among the awards she has won are the Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, Award National Society of Film Critics Best Supporting Actress Critics and the Independent Spirit Award as Best Supporting Actress. She also was nominated for Screen Actors Guild – Motion Picture – as well as Best Supporting Actress, and in January 2006, Amy was nominated for the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for Junebug. The academy invited Amy to be a member in 2006.

In 2007, Amy starred in the movie Enchanted, Walt Disney Pictures. The comedy, which is in animation and reality, also has the cast: Patrick Dempsey, Idina Menzel, Susan Sarandon and James Marsden.
